~~ Coaches Corner:

~~The girls tennis team finished out there season this past Monday in individual regions. In singles play Anna Beczkalo and Anna Samit were are two entries in the singles play. In the draw they received places where they would have to competed against the number 1 and 2 seeds who each went to state last year. Needless to say this was going to be tough matches. Anna Samit played the 2 seed and lost 6-0, 6-0. Anna Beczkalo won her first match against Delano's entry 6-3, 6-3. In her next match she played agasint 1 seed from Maple Grove who she lost to 6-0, 6-0. In our doubles entry Emma Newton and Kelsie Golmen won there first round against Anoka and lost to Champli Park who was the 3rd seed. Our team competed hard and had some changes in the second the set to push maybe to a 3rd set. Grace Hannula and Kaytlyn Syverson who there 1st 2 rounds in straight sets. They beat Champlin Park 1st doubles and in 2nd round beat Osseo. In the 3rd round they competed against Delano 1st doubles. We started out closing out the points placing our shots to the correct areas on the court. We were up 4-1 when Delano started playing both back and we did not have a way to deal with this change.  We ended up the season with a 15-4 record and we had 8 4-3 matches that we won 6 of them. We are graduating a considerable amount of players that I have the utmost confidence that our underclass players will step in to fill in there roles. Thank you seniors you will be missed.

~~~~The Coon Rapids girls tennis team had their first round of sections against Anoka on Thursday. We competed against Anoka a week ago when they were missing there 1st singles player and 1 of there 1st doubles player. Anna lost 1st set and was down 5-4 with her opponent serving 40-15 with 2 match points. Anna ended up winning the 2nd set 7-6 and 3rd set was 6-1 to secure the win. On Friday we went up against the 3rd seed Delano which we lost 4-3. The girls tennis team ended up the season 15-4 which is a very good record. ~~~~The tennis team on Thursday competed against Rogers at there new tennis complex. Rogers sure did right with there new tennis complex. Going into the tennis match we were down one player Anna Beczaklo due to hurting her knee in powder puff. We pulled up Kailia Jones to play 4th singles and Anna Samit played 3rd singles. The tennis team lost 5-2. Seeding was on Sunday night to see where the team would fall inline based in team sections. I told the coaches that I still do not know if Anna is going to be ready but based on how we played this year they voted our team in as the 6th seed. Our first match is on Thursday against the winner of Anoka and Park Center. This will be a tough match even though we beat them earlier in the season. Both teams were missing some of there top players. We will have to be ready for this match. The winner will of this match will go to Delano to play the 3rd seed. Results are as follows:
~~The Coon Rapids tennis team had a match at Champlin Park which turned out to be one of the craziest matches I have ever been involved with.   As the match was going on, Champlin Park took an early lead by securing points at 1st singles, 3rd singles, and 3rd doubles. Then the lady cardinals won in straight sets at 4th singles and 1st doubles.  2nd doubles and 2nd singles lost 1st sets and won 2nd sets.  2nd doubles was deep into there 3rd set while Kaytlyn was starting her 3rd set at 2nd singles. Ella and Sophia were down 6-5, 40-15 with 2 match points against them.  They battled back to win that game bringing there match to a 7 point tiebreaker. While that was going on Kaytlyn was down 5-3 in the 3rd set. Ella and Sophia won their 7 point tiebreaker 7-2 bringing the match score to 3 all. Kaytlyn brought her set to 6 all forcing a 7 point tiebreaker. Kaytlyn won her tiebreaker 7-5 bringing the tennis team to a 4-3 comeback win down 3 match points. The tennis team has competed in 5 4-3 matches winning 4 of them. This years tennis team is not a great team but a good team, one thing we have is a lot of heart and they compete hard. Way to go ladies. Our current record is 9-1. Results are as follows:
